Intellectual manufacturing education program based on science

The Top SE Project is a practical education program aiming to cultivate software engineers who have acquired highly advanced development techniques based on the concept, “intellectual manufacturing education based on science.”
Currently, the following five series of courses have been developed, and a range of classes are being offered.

  • Requirements engineering
  • Architecture
  • Model checking
  • Formatted specifications
  • Cloud computing

All courses place emphasis on the following three points.
Practical training is provided that focus mainly on the exercises.

  1. Methods based on science
  2. Improvement of modeling capability
  3. Problem-solving using tools

The TopSE project is administered by the GRACE Center of the National Institute of Informatics (NII), and Professor Shinichi Honiden of NII is the leader of the project.
The project received Special Coordination Funds for Promoting Science and Technology,from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology from 2004 to 2008.

Approx.150 people have completed the program and are playing an active part as technical leaders in the companies and a research institution. (as of March, 2012)
